GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY / MY HBCU CHAPTER
Some chapters
stay with you.
Mine wears gold.
Journalism gave me a foundation.
Football gave me a place behind the scenes.
Grambling became part of my story.

MORE THAN A LINE ON MY RÉSUMÉ
Black & gold.
Always part of me.
I came to Grambling with a love of sports and an interest in storytelling. Both found a place in my college experience.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Journalism in 2016 and worked as a football equipment manager from 2013 to 2016. Those experiences brought together the academic and behind-the-scenes sides of my time at Grambling.
Being a proud HBCU alum is part of how I introduce myself.
My view
of the game.
Football equipment management gave my love of sports a working role.
My responsibilities included equipment and uniforms, inventory, travel preparation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations. It was an experience in the work that helps a team prepare.
That chapter belongs alongside my journalism experience because it helps explain where my interest in sports and the people around the game comes from.
FINDING MY VOICE
There was a story
outside the classroom, too.
Grambling Springfest, 2016
Young Thug sat down with us after his performance at Grambling State’s Springfest concert. A sample from the journalism chapter of my time at Grambling.
